CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

PARENT/BABY (P/B): is for beginner babies between 4 and 17 months and their parent. Using songs and games, we teach the parent how to correctly hold their baby to promote relaxed and comfortable movement through the water. The biggest goals of this class are for the baby to overcome any fear of water as well as gaining breath control. Babies will also be working on floating, gliding, reaching, and submerging.

PARENT/TOT (P/T): is for our beginner toddlers between 18 to 36 months and their parent. The main difference between this class and P/B is age, which means expectations are higher and drills are modified to be age appropriate. Continuing to use songs and games, we teach the parent how to correctly hold their toddler to promote relaxed and comfortable movements through the water. Overcoming fear of the water, gaining breath control and relaxed gliding are the main goals. Additional skills include floating and climbing out of the pool.

ADVANCED PARENT/TOT (ADV P/T): is for fearless toddlers between 24 to 36 months and their parent. Together with their parent, the child expands on their breath control and is introduced to independent swimming and floating. It’s great to see parent and child explore our underwater world together. Additional skills include kicking, bubbles, diving to the bottom of the pool and independently sit diving and jumping into the pool. Toddlers must complete at least one Parent/Tot session and have their instructor’s authorization before enrolling into this class.

BASIC WATER SAFETY (BWS): is for any child 3 years of age or older who may still harbor fear of the water. Getting wet and participating in class are huge accomplishments for the child. The student learns to trust the instructor through the bond that they build with each other. Using trust, patience, love and positive reinforcement our instructors teach their students to overcome their fear of the water and gain breath control. The biggest goals of this class are overcoming that fear and swimming 4-5 feet independently, with their eyes in.

WATER SAFETY ONE (WS1): In this class we take the skills accomplished in BWS and build upon them. Working the width of the pool, and using plenty of equipment, patience, and positive reinforcement, the instructor teaches the student to swim through the water in a streamline position with fast kicks. Kicking on their back, as well as how to independently roll over are the main goals of this class. This class also has a blast diving to the bottom for toys, as well as working on independent back floats. The confidence gained by the students in this class is amazing.

WATER SAFETY TWO (WS2): is the last class in our water safe program. The goals of this class are nearly identical to those of WS1 in as far as rolling over and kicking on their back. The skills are all perfected with and without fins. The biggest difference between the two classes is the endurance. Students in WS2 are now working the length of the pool while perfecting a strong, straight leg kick and maintaining a horizontal body position. As students complete WS2, we consider them "water-safe" and ready to learn strokes. NOTE: Although your child may be considered water safe by our program standards, no child should ever swim unattended.

BEGINNING STROKE 1 (Beg.St 1): is the first class where we teach your child strokes. After already having completed our water safety levels, your child has the confidence, comfort, endurance, and a fantastic kick. We teach the students backstroke, freestyle, and elementary backstroke using fins and equipment so they can concentrate on perfecting the arm strokes. When the students are capable of swimming two consecutive lengths of backstroke and elementary backstroke without fins and freestyle with fins, they are ready for Beginning Stroke 2.

BEGINNING STROKE 2 (Beg. St 2): in this second level of Beginning Stroke, your child will build up their endurance enough to be able to swim two consecutive lengths of freestyle without fins. Backstroke and elementary backstroke will also be worked on and perfected.

STROKE (ST): In this class the student is taught breaststroke with an introduction to butterfly and flip turns. The concentration of swimming and number of laps is considerably more than that of Beg. ST. and consistent corrections of strokes learned in Beg.ST help to maintain good habits and techniques. When Breaststroke is perfected and a basic understanding of butterfly and flip turns is established, the child is ready to move on to Advanced Stroke.

ADVANCED STROKE (Adv. ST): is our last class for children. This class serves as great preparation for swim team. All strokes are perfected, as well as receiving an introduction to two-hand touches, turns, and glides. The majority of this class is spent swimming laps.

ADULTS: As with all of our levels, our adult classes are taught at the individual's pace. At the start of the class, the instructor and adult discuss specific goals and work together on accomplishing them. Unlike our other classes, these are 45 min long and taught in the evening, free from children's lessons.

PRIVATES AND SEMI-PRIVATES: Private (PVT.) and Semi-Private (Semi-PVT.) can be taught at any level per your request and our schedule availability. This serves as a great chance for you to take advantage of one-on-one or two-on-one swimming for the student.
